Your Kite.................................... a poem by Fereydoon

I remember
On the roof top
In middle of the city
Flying your kite
As I pulled the string
Making it go higher
Letting it go more,
As it got smaller
Sitting on the wind

Then it dove lower
going side way
Among the skycrapers
To my left
Where the mountain was
Where Christ stood tall
With his arms stretched

You walked up
The narrow stairway
I don't know what we said
It didn't matter
I could see it in your eyes
And the smile on your face

I left your kite
On the other side of the earth
In the southern hamisphere
Above the ocean
In Rio

On this side
It's raining hard
I see the lightning
And hear the thunder

Dear Metal:
"love" is never "lost", only shared
among the giver, receiver and the universe

she is still there with her kite..
looking up to the sky above the "horizon"
waiting

And you'll always have Rio!

A girl whom I know, saw my kite poem and this is what she emailed me, I thought I share it with you:

"Your poem was a lovely surprise & I was quite taken by it, the way another woman would be by something shiny & expensive. It brought me back to the days of reading Richard Braughtigan, e e cummings, Hugh Prather, and Leonard Cohen. In a cottage on the ocean I spent many years reading & writing poetry while living ,loving , and learning.

....

In the spirit of 'your kite' i started writng this, I don't know why....maybe you inspired me

on this side it's hot
as I lay naked an
offering on top of my bed
thick air blankets my skin.

like search lights in a fog
my long legs dart
frantic across the sheets
seeking cool refuge, none.

the wind is still
thoughts of you carry me
helpless as a lost kite and my
body aches in small places"
